The Department of Education (DepED) issued the DepEd Memorandum No. 049 s. 2020 entitled “Computation of Public School Teachers’ Proportional Vacation Pay for SY 2019-2020.”
This is to provide the field offices with a uniform basis for the computation of the PVP for SY 2019-2020 for all public elementary and secondary teachers under the teacher’s leave basis.
Proportional Vacation Pay (PVP) refers to the compensation of teaching personnel during Christmas and summer vacation computed in proportion to the number of days served during the school year.
PVP is computed depending on the number of school days and leave of absence.
For SY 2019-2020, all teachers who have rendered continuous service from June 3, 2019, to April 3, 2020, shall be entitled to 80 days total of PVP from Summer and Christmas vacation days, computed as follows:
Total Number of days served from June 3, 2016 to April 3, 2020 | = 306 days |
Less: Number of Christmas vacation days earned from December 15, 2019 to January 5, 2020 | = -22 days |
Actual Days Served Multiply factor Total PVP earned from the number of Summer and Christmas vacation days | = 284 days x 0.282 = 80 days |
Less: Number of Christmas vacation days | = -22 days |
Number of Summer vacation days earned from April 4 to May 31, 2020 | = 58 days |
Factor 0.282 shall be used for the computation of absences and Proportional Vacation Pay. Below is the derivation of factor 0.282.
Number of Summer vacation days Add: Christmas Vacation Number of Days Total PVP | = 58 days = +22 days =80 days |
(Summer and Christmas Vacation Days) Divided by Number of Actual Days Served | = 284 days |
Multiply factor | = x 0.282 |
